The signature teardrop mouthpiece designed by Peter Pletcher is flatter, thinner, and more ergonomic than traditional designs. This makes it particularly suitable for horses with thick tongues and low palates, as it provides increased tongue space and helps reduce pressure points commonly associated with thicker or poorly fitting mouthpieces.
The copper-based alloy mouthpiece is designed to warm quickly in the horse’s mouth, improving comfort and acceptance. Its copper content naturally stimulates salivation, helping to soften the mouth and support consistent bit acceptance.
The Universal cheek design offers multiple rein attachment options, allowing the rider to adjust the level of leverage and poll pressure depending on rein placement, providing flexibility between a more direct snaffle feel and added influence when required.
Unlike a single-jointed mouthpiece, the linked centre joint prevents the bit from folding sharply in the mouth, reducing pressure on the bars and palate. The articulated design allows each side of the bit to move independently, resulting in clearer, more precise rein aids.
